Bringing Balance to Energy

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese medicine that offers patients a variety of benefits. If there’s any imbalance in the energy that runs through your body through different channels and meridians, then it can cause problems in your health. Acupuncture helps to bring balance to that energy. As the needles used in acupuncture are very thin, it generally doesn’t hurt. You might feel a little prick if the area is very sensitive. Other times you may not feel the needle at all.

Decreases Pain, Improves Healing

Acupuncture in Sudbury

Acupuncture has been practice for over 3,000 years in Asia.

In terms of Western medicine, it’s found that acupuncture stimulates your nervous system.

According to research, acupuncture increases the endorphins in your body (the natural painkillers) to decrease pain, especially in the head, neck, back and legs. Acupuncture also has an effect on cortisol in the body, so it helps to reduce inflammation.

Other benefits include improved circulation and healing. You may wonder if you’ll feel better right away. Everyone responds differently. Some people may notice a big difference right away with the first treatment. For others, relief may come more gradually.

Conditions Acupuncture May Help

  • Osteoarthritis in knees and shoulders
  • Pain in neck, back, shoulders, head and legs
  • Morning sickness/nausea
  • Fertility

What to Expect

Your visit to us for acupuncture would be similar to that of a chiropractic visit. We would take your history, perform an exam, and do scanning if you’d like, but it’s not necessary. Then we’ll almost always do an acupuncture treatment the first day. Depending on where the issue is, we may ask you to wear a gown (for example, a patient with a back issue).

Acupuncture is used to help balance the whole body and could benefit anybody. Most people who come in for acupuncture have a particular symptom. Some use it for general wellness but more often it’s used for symptoms such as shoulder pain, knee pain, or excessive back pain. Some patients will do both chiropractic and acupuncture on the same visit. We consider acupuncture to be another mode of care to help speed up a patient’s healing.

Our Fees

The initial visit at our office is $80. For an adjustment, it’s $45 or for an acupuncture treatment it’s $45. We offer a combo fee, so if somebody’s doing both chiropractic and acupuncture together, there’s a reduction to make it more affordable at $70 for the two together.
